Austin ISD has voted to close 10 schools partially due to under-enrollment. Where have kids gone?

Late last year, Austin ISD voted to close ten schools for many reasons, but declining enrollment remains their biggest problem. Over ten years, Austin ISD lost 10,000 students. This begs the question, where did these students go? We explore how the pandemic, low birthrates and school choice are impacting Austin ISD and other school districts in Central Texas.
