(audience cheering) He's definitely coming back, and we'll get his proper introduction later on.
So, welcome to the Lyric Theater.
Can't think of a better place to be.
It's been an exercise of delayed gratification waiting two years after the release of this album that we made.
And, by the way, these are the guys that made the album.
(audience applauding) They have names.
And... we'll get to introducing folks, but I would like to thank John Harvey.
You heard that wonderful introduction, because this is his idea, that's all.
We're just backing up the cats, that's what we do, so it's his idea and he put this concert together, finally.
It was planned two years ago, but again, here we are and glad to be here, so...
I could go on, but I won't, because I want to introduce someone who is gonna kinda take over the front of the stage and do some conducting, if you will, and MCing whatever it might be, and Shane Porter, and he's done several of the arrangements, and integral to this project, we'd be in trouble if we didn't have him, 'cause of the lots of logistics going on behind the scenes just to put this together, not to mention the album, it's unbelievable.
So he's done a lot, and he's gonna take over so I can just go play drums, you know?
Shane!
(audience applauding) - Good evening.
Much of the music that you hear tonight is actually arranged by band members as well.
This next tune was the first instrumental written by an Allman Brothers band member, and it was done, the arrangement of "Liz Reed" is done by Mr.
Mart Avant.

(audience applauding) Mr. Tom Wolfe on the guitar.
(audience cheering) Dick Aven, tenor saxophone.
(audience cheering) And like you heard me say earlier, a lot of these charts were done by members of the band.
That was "Hot 'Lanta" arranged by Mr. Wolfe, and... (audience applauding) The next chart, it's going to be a trombone featuring Chad Fisher, is entitled, "Dreams," also arranged by Mr. Wolfe.

Man, I'm just honored and thrilled to be up here with these guys, you know?
This is another level of great musicianship.
There's one right there.
- How about, you're due a formal introduction for Randall Bramblett, let's hear it, everybody.
(audience applauding) Renowned song writer, multi-instrumentalist.
Now, some of you have been buying his albums and solo releases.
There's a bunch of them on New West Records, the same label that Big Band of Brothers is on.
How many people remember Gregg Allman's "Laid Back" album?
(audience cheering) That was a good one, he toured there.
How many people remember Sea Level?
(audience cheering) I was telling Randall earlier, I'm kinda starstruck because I was a teenager, like, "I'm gonna get that gig."
That was my fantasy, I really dug Sea Level.
That was my thing.
Anyway, he's played with so many people, it's unbelievable.
You should look up his discography and, I mean, who is it, Bonnie Raitt, Robbie Robertson, you, Steve Winwood, a Traffic Stint, Widespread Panic, I mean, this guy is all over the place, you know?
- Woo!
- Obviously, we're all very honored and thrilled that he's covering the vocals for us, here, tonight.
Thank you, Randall.
- My pleasure, my pleasure.
(audience applauding) - And he's going to take over what's gonna happen next, but we also have another special guest that flew all the way in from Ohio just to be here, because we're doing some of his arrangements.
He's Red Nienkirchen.
Did I do it right?
Good.
Anyway, he's gonna conduct the band, these next few pieces that he arranged and... Come on, Red.
- Come on out, Red.
(audience applauding) (gentle piano music) So, some of y'all know it, but Sea Level was kind of a jazzier side project of the Allman Brothers, and Jaimoe and Lamar and Chuck got together with Jimmy Nalls and they started just messing around and they ended up making their first record and starting a group, you know, called Sea Level, and I joined them on the second, and throughout the rest of it, Davis Causey and I joined, and went down to Macon and made some good record with them, and they used a couple of my songs for my first, from my second record, I'm sorry, solo record, and we put them in the Sea Level style, and then Chuck did a big band thing too, so Red did the arrangements for all the scores on these two songs, so we're gonna do a couple... Chuck couldn't make it tonight because he had some kind of bar gig with some band named Rolling something-or-other, I don't know.
(audience laughing) Rolling Rocks, but he wishes he could be here but he couldn't make it, but, anyway, this is called "A King Grand," "The King Grand," I need 10 thousand dollars.

- Okay.
- I promise I'll be short but...
This last tune is called "Les Brers."
It translates to, "The Brothers."
And that's very appropriate for this group, up here, because we've known each other for years.
I think Mart, are you and Chris the oldest knowing brotherhood relationship we have on here?
What, 40-something years?
I met Mart when I was 15 and I just turned 50.
(audience cheering) So, yeah, we've all known each other and... that's kind of where the title, or the name of this group came from, "Big Band of Brothers," is because we all are, we've known each other forever, done all kinds of musical stuff together.
Mr. Wolfe as my teacher.
